The CV remains one of the most important documents in the recruitment process. However, many professionals make simple mistakes that can drastically reduce their chances of reaching the interview stage.
Some of these mistakes go unnoticed, but can cause the CV to be rejected before a recruiter even reads it.
1. An overly generic summary
Phrases like "motivated professional oriented towards results" appear in thousands of CVs. The opening summary should quickly communicate your area of expertise, years of experience and professional impact. A good summary helps the recruiter immediately understand who you are.
2. Lack of concrete results
Many CVs describe responsibilities, but don't show impact. Results make the CV more credible and differentiating.
❌ "Responsible for project management"
✔ "Coordinated transformation projects that reduced operational costs by 15%"
3. Insufficient keywords
Today many companies use automatic systems (ATS) to filter applications. If the CV doesn't include terms relevant to the role, it may be classified as low-relevance and rejected before reaching human hands.
4. Unclear structure
Confusing sections or unconventional headings can make reading difficult. Recruiters quickly look for experience, education and skills. If they can't find these sections easily, they move on to the next candidate.
5. Overly complex formatting
Very graphic layouts may look appealing, but are not always well interpreted by recruitment systems. Simplicity and clarity remain the best options to ensure your CV is read correctly.
6. Experience described in vague terms
Generic expressions don't help differentiate a candidate. The more concrete the described professional impact, the greater the likelihood of arousing a recruiter's interest.
7. CV that is too long
In most cases, two pages are sufficient. Recruiters spend only a few seconds on the first read. A concise, well-structured CV has far more impact than an extensive and repetitive document.
Before sending your CV
Many of these issues can be quickly identified through a structured analysis of the curriculum. Automatic analysis tools can detect structural errors, missing keywords and other problems before you send your application.
